Women in Technology: Morgan Pamplin

In the seventh installment of our Women in Technology blog series, we are excited to spotlight Morgan Pamplin, Team Standley's Imaging Solutions Specialist. Morgan has been with Standley Systems for two years and drawn to Team Standley because of the Christian values which resonate with her own beliefs and values. She feels that working for a company that has values and beliefs that align with her own help bring purpose and passion to the work she does.

Morgan also appreciates that Standley Systems is community-focused, allowing her to engage in her community in meaningful ways. These community involvement initiatives include Big Fred, volunteer opportunities, participating in local events, and fostering relationships with community members.

Morgan is newly married, enjoys cooking, and loves spending time at home with her dogs and seeing family. Her love for cooking allows her to explore her creativity and unwind while her time with family and pets provides a comforting balance to her professional responsibilities.

As an Imaging Solutions Specialist, Morgan’s responsibilities include reaching out to customers and ensuring their machines are online to automatically report meters. This involves troubleshooting technical issues, providing guidance on software installations, and maintaining strong customer relationships to ensure seamless service delivery. This is a task that requires both technical and excellent communication skills to ensure customer understanding and satisfaction.

Morgan is currently pursuing her CompTIA certifications which are a series of professional certifications that validate her skills and knowledge in various IT domains. Morgan is excited about the opportunity that these certifications bring to hone her skills and enhance career growth. These certifications cover a wide range of topics, including network security, cloud computing, and IT infrastructure, all of which will equip her with the necessary skills to tackle complex technical challenges and stay up to date with the latest industry trends and standards.

Her favorite part of her job is receiving an email confirming a machine has been added to the network and is reporting properly. There is nothing more satisfying than getting a machine added to the network and is reporting meters and supply levels.  This adds a sense of accomplishment and progress and a smile to her day.

The most challenging part of her job is understanding the software and assisting customers over the phone to navigate where they need to go to set up their machines on the Data Collection Agent (DCA) network. Morgan mentions that it can sometimes be difficult because she can’t see what they’re seeing, which can make it challenging to guide them at times. This task requires a lot of patience and problem-solving skills to overcome the hurdles that may arise. This aspect of her job demands a deep understanding of the software, the ability to think on her feet, and the skill to communicate complex instructions clearly and effectively.

Morgan also notes that her work with DCA, which involves managing and analyzing data collection agents, can be repetitive, and she enjoys the opportunity to occasionally explore the solutions side. This is where she gets to apply her creativity and strategic thinking to develop innovative solutions for complex problems. This aspect of her role allows her to think outside the box and be creative, fostering her growth and development.

Looking to the future, Morgan envisions herself with more certifications and IT knowledge, aiming to become an expert in her field. She also aims to continue using and expanding that knowledge at Standley Systems, contributing to the company’s growth and success while advancing her own career. Her long-term goals include taking on more leadership responsibilities, mentoring new teammates, and playing a pivotal role in driving technological advancements within the company.

When asked if there was a woman in the technology field who inspired or encouraged her, Morgan credits Standley's own Janice Standley as the woman who has helped and supported her in the technology field. Morgan says that Janice possesses extensive knowledge of DCA, describing her as knowing everything about it inside and out. Janice's mentorship has been instrumental in Morgan's professional development, offering insights, sharing experiences, and providing a supportive environment that has empowered Morgan to excel in her role.

Morgan’s advice to women who are considering entering the technology field is, “Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it.” She believes that women bring unique perspectives and innovative ideas to the tech field, which can lead to groundbreaking advancements and solutions. She is excited to see more women stepping into technology roles, contributing their diverse insights and creativity.

Morgan believes her role as Imaging Solutions Specialist is a great entry point into IT because it doesn’t require extensive prior knowledge, making it accessible to those who are eager to jump in and start learning right away. She received on the job training and finds her teammates to be reliable and knowledgeable, creating a supportive and collaborative environment. Morgan says that the coworkers and environment played a big role in her ability to learn and adapt as quickly as she has. She also mentioned that this job would suit someone who is technical, analytical, data-driven, and detail-oriented, as these skills are essential for success in the role.

As we wrap up our Women in Technology blog series, we're thrilled to celebrate Morgan Pamplin's journey and the contributions she has made to Imaging Solutions at Standley Systems. Morgan's dedication to blending her personal values with her work and her commitment to continuous development and education are truly inspiring. Her story shows just how powerful mentorship and perseverance can be in the tech world. We can't wait to see what she accomplishes next and how she'll continue to make waves in the industry. Cheers to all the female future shapers making waves and changing the way we understand and use tech!
