Team Standley is excited to once again collaborate with the Chickasha High School internship program CHS Works, this initiative prepares students to be career-ready so they can make a difference for employers now and in the future. This opportunity is beneficial for both the students and the businesses involved because it gives students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while businesses benefit from fresh perspectives. Standley Systems has proudly been a part of this program since its inception three years ago, and we have witnessed firsthand the positive impact it has had on both our organization and the students involved.
This year, Grace Palesano was selected to join Team Standley on October 2nd as a Contracts Intern. She is a senior at Chickasha High School where she has a passion for music. She can play multiple instruments, including the trumpet, piano, guitar, and trombone! She can also read all types of music, demonstrating her versatility and dedication to mastering different musical skills.
When she first started, Grace said she chose Standley Systems to gain valuable hands-on experience as a high school senior. She said she believed that Standley Systems would help her achieve this by providing a dynamic and supportive environment where she could learn and grow professionally. She said she was very excited to start working with the Contracts team and looked forward to contributing her skills and gaining valuable insights into the world of contracts and business operations.
After working at Standley Systems for a little over a month now, Grace says her internship is going great. She really enjoys the people she works with, and she knows that they have her back if she needs help with anything. She mentions that she has significantly improved her computer navigation skills. She wasn't aware of all the shortcuts and interesting websites before, and she believes that this knowledge will be very beneficial in the future.
Grace's main job responsibility is going through customer records and updating their contract information. She says her favorite part of her job is learning something new every day and that every time she comes to work, she feels like she learns something new! She also really enjoys the problem solving. Grace said its refreshing getting to look at how to solve problems from different angles, and is even a refreshing way to exercise her brain.
Beyond the internship and graduation in May, Grace has been accepted into the University of Oklahoma and plans on majoring in sociology. While she isn't quite sure what type of job she wants to pursue in the future, she is thinking about becoming a therapist.
As Grace continues her journey, she remains optimistic and open to the possibilities that lie ahead. Her time at Standley Systems has not only equipped her with practical skills but also instilled a sense of confidence in her abilities. With her passion for learning and her dedication to personal growth, Grace is poised to make a meaningful impact in whatever path she chooses. Team Standley has loved having her be a part and is excited to cheer her on as she tackles a new chapter!
