College of the Muscogee Nation is an institution of higher education for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation emphasizing native culture, values, language and self-determination.The college came to Standley Systems in need of a robust yet flexible backup system for their data environment. They also needed to refresh their end of life servers and network hardware in their core environment.
Academics and uptime was of utmost concern. The system had to allow for quick adoption by college staff and support the type of back-up protection needed in an education environment.
Quite simply, it could not impede the staff’s ability to respond to and address any data loss and or network outage while maintaining classes.
The client had an existing Dell Hyper-Converged system and a Cisco network platform. They had no prior experience with HPE, Veeam or FS switches and their supporting technologies.
DELIVERING SIMPLIFIED COMMUNICATIONS
After close consultation and careful consideration of the critical role of communications in the college environment, Standley Systems and the client selected a simple, reliable, integrated solution from the HPE suite. With costly network product hardware, licensing and maintenance, the customer was also looking for a way to reduce costs. The FS Series LAN switch platform fit the bill and reduced capital and operational costs by over 66%. The project took place in two phases and included the installation of FS core network switches and HPE servers. The solution accommodated student academic schedules and their need to maintain uptime, and provided staff with insights into backup data, messages and alerts wherever they might be. Standley Systems worked diligently, staging and testing the solutions prior
to deployment, to ensure a clean and non-disruptive implementation. And our Standley “Knowledge Transfer” approach created in-house by experts, resulted in significant cost savings and improved usability.
MANAGING THE SOLUTION
After deployment, the Standley team took on the task of providing day two support of the new system, giving the client the peace of mind that comes with knowing their system is in the hands of expert engineers who know it best. The expertise and customer-first approach of the Standley Systems engineering team further solidified the relationship of Standley Systems with the college. After the success of the two phases, the client signed on for an additional advanced emergency and alerting system. Keeping close communication with the client provided better response to the client’s current and future hardware and services needs. Additional projects are planned for the near future.
