The 2015 Holiday Hay Bale Display in Chickasha

As temperatures drop and the first flakes of snow draw near, the city of Chickasha is getting in the holiday spirit. Standley Systems is sponsoring this year’s holiday hay bale display to kick off the annual Festival of Lights. To spread the holiday cheer, we teamed up with a local artist to display nearly 250 unique hay bales around Chickasha.

Standley Systems’ Co-owner Tim Elliott originally started this idea in hopes of starting a holiday tradition all families can enjoy. The company donated their time and funds for the holiday hay bales as a way to give back to a community that has contributed to the business’ history and success. Carrie Chavers, former high school art teacher and artist at the Chickasha Art Center, spent six weeks designing and painting the displays. During the creative process, Chavers enlisted the help of a dozen Standley’s volunteers to help pre-plan, pick up and set up the hay bales.

The festive displays can be seen in four locations around Chickasha:

  • A Merry Christmas display with animated characters on Grand Ave. just west of 4th Street
  • An American flag with toy soldiers located near the second Chickasha exit at the junction of US-81 and I-44
  • A teddy bear family display on Grand Avenue –  located east of Grand Avenue intersection on the north side of the street
  • Shannon Springs Park located on the west side near 13th Street and Montana
