3d printing, Oklahoma City's new tool for community impact

At Standley Systems, we believe that the most important test of our society’s technology is the ways in which we use it. We must do our part to enrich the lives of others, and when it comes to 3d printing, Oklahoma City locals have found ways to make it work for the community. Man’s best friend is not excluded from that kindness. Here is an update on Derby, a dog born without fully formed front legs.

With the help of 3D printing and 3D Systems, Derby has now found his stride. His 3D printed custom prostheses made of SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) work like your knee, with a functional amount of give-and-take but also with a necessary degree of structural capacity. Now, Derby can walk and run with a straight, level back and sit like a normal dog! Thanks to 3D Systems for this great demonstration of the endless ways in which 3D printing technology has the potential to make the world a better, happier place for everyone.
